City Policy Champions represent Houston at NAUDL Tournament

Updated: Aug 28, 2018

Houston was well represented when urban debate city champions from across the county gathered in Washington, D.C. to duke it out for the national title.

In April, top teams from urban debate leagues across the country gathered on the campus of Georgetown University to compete for the national championship of urban debate. Sponsored by the National Association for Urban Debate Leagues, the tournament brought together the top two teams from each of 22 leagues, from Miami to Milwaukee, and from New York to LA.

HUDL was well represented at the NAUDL Tournament by its city champions, Aditya Pethe and Dhanush Nadella of Westside High (HISD), and its runner-up champions, Trevion Thompson and Jay'den Kannedy from Taylor High (CASE Alief ISD). Coaches Eric Schwerdtfeger (Westside) and Adesuwa Omoruyi (Alief Taylor) rounded out the crew.

Congratulations go to the Lane Tech school of Chicago for winning the national title, and to both of our Houston teams for carrying the HUDL flag!
